Bar Owners: Two Quick Appetizers To Serve At The Bar On Game Days

Putting complementary snacks out on the bar for guests to enjoy during games is a great way to gain some regulars and ensure customer satisfaction. Here are two crowd-pleasing appetizers that the kitchen can whip up in no time and serve to the hungry crowd.

French Bread Pizzas

Pizza is a classic game-day food, and these French bread pizzas come together in just a few minutes. You only need four ingredients to make them, so it's easy to keep the supplies stocked for game days.

Ingredients (for one French bread pizza):

  • 1 loaf of French bread
  • 1 ½ cups canned pizza sauce
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup sliced pepperoni

Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. (You should have two long pieces of French bread). Place the bread on a large baking sheet, and toast it in a 375 degree F oven for 5 minutes.

Remove the French bread from the oven, and spread the pizza sauce over the cut sides. Sprinkle on the mozzarella cheese, and then add the pepperoni. Bake at 375 F for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and beginning to brown.

Let the pizza cool slightly, and then cut it into 2-inch sections before serving.

Chicken Wing Dip

Serve this spicy, cheesy dip with tortilla chips, cubed bread, or even soft pretzels. The recipe makes three smaller bowls of dip, so you can bring out one at a time and keep your customers snacking.

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 16 ounces cream cheese
  • 24 ounces blue cheese dressing
  • 16 ounces hot sauce
  • 4 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Place the cream cheese in a glass bowl, and microwave it for 2 minutes to soften it. Then, add the remaining ingredients, except for 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, to the bowl. Mix to combine. Then, divide the mixture between three oven-safe bowls or crocks. Divide the remaining mozzarella cheese between the bowls, sprinkling it on top.

Store the dip in the refrigerator until you're almost ready to serve it. Heat one bowl in the oven at 375 F for 20 minutes before serving.  When the first bowl disappears, heat up another one!

Serving snacks like the one above is a great way to draw more customers in for game days. Make sure you advertise the fact that you're serving complementary snacks so the word gets out. You never know, you might be voted best bar and grill before you know it.
